Online Portals Highlight "Tejaswini Assam Ideathon 2024"

The Tejaswini Assam Ideathon 2024, an initiative spearheaded by the Women’s Cell, Industries & Commerce Department, Government of Assam, and executed by the North Eastern Handicrafts & Handlooms Development Corporation Ltd. (NEHHDC), has garnered significant attention and acclaim. This transformative program was designed to empower women aged 18 to 50 from Assam by providing a distinguished platform to present their business ideas. Hosted at Assam Startup, The NEST—our esteemed ecosystem partner—the event unfolded with remarkable enthusiasm and support.

The Ideathon encompassed six key zones: Guwahati, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Silchar, Kokrajhar, and Tezpur. With over 1,500 applications received, more than 350 women entrepreneurs were shortlisted for the final pitching rounds. These finalists showcased exceptional creativity, determination, and innovation in addressing local challenges.

Preceding the final pitching round, a comprehensive bootcamp was held, featuring a series of enlightening sessions and motivational addresses. Dr. Sriparna B. Baruah, Advisor at NEHHDC, led a masterclass on "How to Pitch a Business Idea," offering valuable insights to the participants. Her call for increased female participation in entrepreneurship was a highlight. Smt. Maini Mahanta, Founder Editor of Nandini, delivered an inspiring keynote on her entrepreneurial journey, encouraging resilience. Additionally, Shri Jiten Chandra Kalita, former Senior Faculty at the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), provided expert advice on product diversification and creative innovation.

The bootcamp featured a distinguished roster of mentors, including both emerging and seasoned entrepreneurs such as Smt. Divija Rajkhowa of The Assam Tribune Digital Pvt. Ltd., Dr. Madhumita Saikia of Signature Group of Institutions (SMT), and Smt. Pratibha Das Hatibaruah of Flugelsoft. A panel discussion with Shri Debarshi Bhattacharyya, AGM at NEDFi, and Shri Hemanta Haloi, Dy. Manager at NSIC, further enriched the event.

Smt. Krishna Hazarika Rao, DGM (PR) at OIL India Limited, also participated in the pitching rounds, adding her extensive experience to the proceedings. The bootcamp’s focus on branding, packaging, effective pitching techniques, and confidence-building was met with high praise from participants.

The Tejaswini Assam Ideathon 2024 has awarded a prize fund of Rs. 5 lakhs and provided extensive mentorship support to over 300 women entrepreneurs. This initiative is poised to make a lasting impact on Assam’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, fostering innovation and growth among women.
